ADRE Eligibility Criteria 2026: Age Limit, Qualification & Rules

Before you apply for the Assam Direct Recruitment Exam (ADRE), you must check if you are eligible. The State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC), Assam, has strict rules for this exam. If you do not meet these rules, your application may be rejected.

This guide explains the basic eligibility rules for Grade III and Grade IV posts in the ADRE 2026 exam.

Education Qualification

The education requirement depends on the grade and the specific job you want to apply for. You must have the required certificates from a recognized board or university.

Grade III Posts

Grade III posts include jobs like Junior Assistant, Driver, and other office or technical roles.

  • Junior Assistant / Data Entry Operator: You must have a Bachelor’s Degree (Graduation) from a recognized university. Some posts may also require a computer certificate.
  • Driver: You must have passed Class 12 (HSSLC). You must also have a valid Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) or Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving license.
  • Other Posts: Most other Grade III jobs require you to have passed Class 12 (HSSLC).

Grade IV Posts

Grade IV posts include support staff jobs like Peon, Aaya, and Security Guard.

  • Peon / Aaya / Chowkidar: You must have passed Class 8 or Class 10 (HSLC) from a recognized board.
  • Security Guard: You must have passed Class 10 (HSLC). You must also meet the physical height and chest requirements.

Age Limit Rules

Your age is calculated based on the date mentioned in the official notification (usually January 1st of the exam year).

  • Minimum Age: 18 years.
  • Maximum Age: 38 years (for General category candidates).

Age Relaxation for Reserved Categories

The Assam Government gives extra years (age relaxation) to candidates from reserved categories. The rules are as follows:

Domicile (Residence) Rules

The ADRE exam is only for the people of Assam. Therefore, domicile is a strict rule.

  • You must be a permanent resident of Assam.
  • You must have a valid Domicile Certificate or Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued by the Circle Officer of your area in Assam.
  • If you cannot show this certificate during document verification, you will be disqualified, even if you pass the written exam.

Physical Standards (For Specific Posts)

For some jobs like Security Guard or Driver, you must meet physical requirements.

  • You must meet the minimum height and chest measurement rules.
  • You must be medically fit for the job.
  • The exact height and weight rules are given in the official notification for each post.

Who Cannot Apply?

You will not be allowed to apply for the ADRE exam if:

  1. You do not have the required education qualification.
  2. You are above the maximum age limit.
  3. You do not have an Assam Domicile Certificate.
  4. You were previously removed or dismissed from any government job.
  5. You have a criminal record.
  6. You provide fake or wrong information in your application.

Documents Required for Application

Keep soft copies (scanned files) and hard copies of these documents ready before the application form opens:

  1. Class 10 (HSLC) and Class 12 (HSSLC) / Graduation Mark sheets and Certificates.
  2. Valid Domicile Certificate or Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC).
  3. Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/MOBC) issued by the competent authority in Assam.
  4. Disability Certificate (if applicable).
  5. Valid Photo ID (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, or Driving License).
  6. Passport-size photograph and scanned signature.
